Instructions for authors

Papers submitted for publication must be written in English. Manuscripts must be in their final form and typed on one side of the paper only in double-line spacing with wide margins. The author should keep a copy of the manuscript. Manuscripts can be sent by post (in triplicate) or by email to one of the following addresses:

  • Nguyen Khoa Son, Editor-in-Chief, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, 18 Hoang Quoc Viet  Road, Cau Giay Str., Hanoi, Vietnam nkson@vast.ac.vn

  • Pham Ky Anh, Deputy Editor-in-Chief, Hanoi University of Science, 334 Nguyen Trai, Thanh Xuan, Hanoi, Vietnam anhpk@vnu.edu.vn

  • Nguyen Thi Hoai Linh, Editorial Secretary, Vietnam Journal of Mathematics Editorial Office, 70 Tran Hung Dao Str., Hanoi, Vietnam vjm@vap.ac.vn

All papers will be refereed. If necessary, the author(s) would be asked to revise the manuscript according to the referee's report. The Editorial Board reserves the right to make reasonable modifications in wording.

Papers should be written in an elegant and clear style. Prospective authors not proficient in the language are urged to seek proper assistance in this matter before submitting papers. If the language used is poor, the manuscript will be returned to the author.

IMPORTANT: To facilitate communication between authors, editors and the publisher, papers must be submitted with full address(es), and telefax numbers and e-mail address(es) of the corresponding author.
Authors are strongly advised to submit electronically prepared manuscripts (AMSTeX or LaTeX).

Each paper should be preceded by an abstract in English  (not exceeding 100 words), the primary and secondary classification numbers according to the 2000 Mathematics Subject Classification, and a short list of keywords describing the subject of the paper.

On the first page of the manuscript, a short running title, not exceeding 60 typewrite strokes including spaces, should be provided.
Authors are requested to choose mathematical symbols as simply as possible, and place superscripts and subscripts accurately so that they will not be misunderstood. Distinction should be made between easily confused characters.

Illustrations and diagrams should be submitted on separate sheets and not included in the text. They should be of good quality and drawn in India ink using clear uniform lines. Computer-drawn figures are acceptable  provided they are of comparable quality. Lines and curves must be smooth. Letters 2mm high are recommended. Illustrations and diagrams may be reduced where necessary. The author should indicate in the margin of the manuscript where illustrations and diagrams are to be inserted.

Indicators such as "Definition", "Theorem", "Lemma", "Corollary", "Proposition", etc. are normally in boldface followed by the formulation in italics, the end of which should be clearly indicated. The words "Proof", "Remark", "Note", etc. are in italics with the formulation in ordinary roman (upright) typeface.

Formulae should be typewritten whenever possible. Special marking should be explained in a "Note to the printer". Copies produced by matrix printers are not acceptable unless clearly legible. Letters in formulae are printed in italics and number in roman unless marked otherwise. Please indicate clearly the position of exponents and indices. Also, certain symbols can be mistaken for other characters and therefore, the intended expression or meaning should be made clear.

Footnotes, other than those referring to the title of the paper, should be avoided. If absolutely necessary, they should be numbered consecutively and placed at the foot of the page on which they occur (not at the end of the article).

The list of references at the end of the paper always be in alphabetical order, numbered consecutively and include the names and initials of all authors, or editors, year of publication, and name and location of the publisher (see examples below). Names of journals and book series should be abbreviated in accordance with Zentralblatt fϋr Mathematik. Whenever possible, please replace all references to papers accepted for publication, preprints or technical report by exact name of the journal as well as the volume, first and last page numbers and year, if the article has already been published or accepted for publication.

Citations in the text should be by numbers in square brackets, for example [1], or Freed and Melrose [1], referring to an alphabetically ordered and numbered list. If a work with more than three author's or editor's name followed by "et al." need be given, for example, Komor et al. [1].
In the list of references, the following examples should be observed:

Journal article:
1. D. S. Freed and R. B. Melrose, A mode k index theorem, Invent. Math. 107 (1992), 283-299.
Complete book:
2. J. H. Conway and N. J. Sloane, Sphere Packings, Lattices and  Groups (Grundlehren Math. Wiss. Bd. 290), Springer-Verlag, 1988.
Single contribution in a book:
3. 3. J. Sjöstrand, Microlocal analysis for the periodic magnetic Schrödinger equations and related questions, in: Microlocal Analysis and Applications, Montecatini Terme 1989, J. M. Bony et al. (eds.), Lecture Notes in Mathematics, Vol. 1495, Springer-Verlag, 1991, pp. 237-332.

Normally, only printer's errors should be corrected in the proofs. A charge may be made for extensive changes, not due to typesetting errors, introduced at the proofing stage.

Thirty (30) offprints of each paper will be supplied free of charge. In case of a joint paper, these offprints will be sent to the corresponding author.
