On an Invariant-Theoretic Description of the Lambda Algebra

Abstract. The purpose of this paper is to give a mod-p analogue of the Lomonaco invariant-theoretic description of the lambda algebra for p an odd prime. Moreprecisely, using modular in variants of the general linear group GL_n = GL(n, F_p) and its Borel subgroup B_n, we construct a differential algebra Q – which is isomorphic to the lambda algebra Λ=Λ_p.
